Our 7 ships...
We now have six ships lying as wrecks off or near the coast of Cyprus. To be honest, I only knew about three until yesterday. We only discovered this when we started looking into the island more closely. Update 12/24: We've discovered another ship. And it's practically on our doorstep: not far from the port of Paphos. Here lies the VERA K at a depth of 11 meters. It, too, is now only of interest to divers. The freighter, formerly sailing under the Lebanese flag, ran aground h

Our Sack'n Luck Cyprus page
Here we'll gradually compile the things that, subjectively speaking, really get on our nerves as well as those that make us incredibly lucky in Cyprus. We don't claim this list is exhaustive and are truly grateful for your tips. The page will, of course, be expanded as needed. We deliberately chose to start with the annoying things before celebrating the truly awesome luck things. 🥳 Sack The hunting season is definitely open, including hunting finches and migratory birds fro

Nicosia-Lefkosia
Of course, you have to visit the capital, or rather the divided capital, of Cyprus. A fantastic, huge city with a beautiful old town. And we would actually move to this city in November if the sea weren't so far away. Naturally, we looked into what we could do there beforehand. We had planned two days, but in the end, we actually spent nine days in Nicosia. On the way to the hotel, we noticed a huge Turkish flag on the mountain. We could then admire it from our room's balcony

A journey of discovery in Cyprus
A Glimpse into Our Potential New Home Cyprus, the breathtaking island in the eastern Mediterranean, has once again captivated us. This time, however, our visit was driven by a special purpose – the search for our potential new home. Since we are emigrating in November, we wanted to explore the diverse facets of this island to find the region that would truly capture our hearts. Incidentally, we were fortunate enough to celebrate Easter twice this year, as the Orthodox Easter

Weekend in Vienna
Vienna, the most livable city? We'll see, we're still on a plane for a short Easter trip in rainy 7-degree weather. We'll report on how we, as tourists, enjoyed the city in 2024 and whether it spoke to us. How lucky we are! We're flying back to Vienna after 27 years, and we have glorious weather again – if that's not a good omen... Today was a relaxed day with the Hundertwasser House , St. Stephen's Cathedral, and Vienna's oldest public toilet . Still entirely in the Art Nouv

Goodbye, Arrivedderci, bye,...
We have already hinted elsewhere that we want to create a collection of synonyms or translations for the short Cologne dialect word "Tschö", perhaps with your help. As short as the word is, it has a lot of meaning: I'm through the door now, take care, I wish you all the best, we'll see each other again. Five letters with a lot of meaning. Unlike the Viennese, who launch into a veritable torrent of words: Bye-bye, kisses, see you soon! But let's begin in Germany: High German A
