Montenegro: beautiful and not beautiful
We had two weeks to explore this country, which was new to us. We visited Kotor, Bar, Budvar, Herceg Novi, and many, many small villages. We are deliberately writing our reports only after the end of our two-week trip to let the overall impression sink in. In my short report, I will briefly address the things that stood out to us, both positive and negative. Kerstin will certainly share a few stories in her report . We were impressed by what Even on the approach to landing, t

Montenegro
The country that first came to mind for our idea of emigrating. Montenegro is a beautiful country, and we were already captivated by it as our plane was landing. It was absolutely wonderful. The airport in Tivat is so tiny that only a large plane can really land there. We picked up our rental car, which was totally straightforward. ( Montenegro car 🚙) Then we drove to our accommodation in Strp. ( Stella de Mare Apartment ) On this drive, we were able to see a lot of the b

Cyprus
The starting point of our world trip? The flight to Paphos is booked, and this time we're actually flying business class for the first time. Great, but also a bit annoying when the flight attendant's constant questions make it impossible to read a page in peace. This time we're flying from Cologne, and we usually love spending the time we have left before departure in the lounge. Is abstaining from alcohol also not a solution?
Finally Friday afternoon, home, shower, eat, and then off to the village pub with my buddies. There we'd chat, play cards until the dice were smoking or the meager 245 DM from my first-year apprentice wages were blown. 245 DM might sound like a lot at first: my parents took 80 DM, put 80 DM aside for clothes and such, leaving about 80 DM for leisure. Spread over four weekends a month, and with a Kölsch costing 1 DM at Clemens'... well, I wasn't the one in our group who had th

What we noticed in Cyprus
Neutral At first, we were naturally confronted with driving on the left, which was quite a challenge. But after a short adjustment period, we also got used to the special rules of the roundabout. Once you understand the rules, you find them much better than in Germany. The architecture of the houses is completely different from Germany, very simple. Even the relatively new houses often look run-down. At first, we were surprised to see metal supports sticking out of the tops o

Day 3 - Avakas Gorge
After a very relaxing second day with a delicious breakfast at a local taverna, followed by a day at the beach snorkeling and reading, today, on the third day, we're going on a long hike through the... AVAKAS GORGE Fortified by a delicious warm baguette with various toppings and a very tasty omelet from Hari's Restaurant – a cool location with friendly service – we approached the gorge via a detour due to roadworks. We drove as far as our little car (without four-wheel drive)
