The starting point of our world trip?

The flight to Paphos is booked, and this time we're actually flying business class for the first time.
Great, but also a bit annoying when the flight attendant's constant questions make it impossible to read a page in peace.
This time we're flying from Cologne, and we usually love spending the time we have left before departure in the lounge. The lounge in Cologne is a joke compared to other airports (you could call it a larger waiting room). But the coffee there is very good.
The flight was from Cologne to Munich. We had a layover of almost three hours there.
Which was a good thing, because it took us almost 30 minutes to get to our departure terminal.
We spent the rest of the time reading in the lovely lounge.
Then we continued on to Paphos, which is a cute little airport.
So, you can't really get lost there.

We had rented an apartment through Airbnb and the landlady immediately recommended a well-known car rental company from which we had already rented a car from home.

Together we drove to Paphos, where we dropped Akis off at his shop. Then came our first drive on the left. (Oh no!)
From there we went to Peigha to Dawn's wonderful apartment.
The apartment was great, with a beautiful view and a swimming pool.
After unpacking, we went to the nearest taverna for a delicious meze meal.
The next day we drove around the area a bit, and we spent the rest of the day snorkeling and reading on the beach.
Unfortunately, we didn't see any turtles, which are supposed to live in the water there, during the entire vacation.
A beach holiday alone is obviously not for us, so the next day we decided to hike through the Avakas Gorge. (It's such a great tour that I'll write a separate post about it.)

The entire loop was supposed to be about 9 km, but it felt like at least 20 km to us.
The gorge is beautiful with its wonderful flowers and animals (frogs, mouflon).

But you should also know that you can't just walk through it; in some parts you actually have to do some climbing. Therefore, please make sure you wear sturdy shoes if you plan to walk through it. (No flip-flops or sandals.)
The gorge is incredible, and as always, I couldn't resist and had to go in the water.
All in all, it was a great hike, but please don't do it with small children.
The next day we spent at the beach again to give our tired feet a rest.
Cyprus is a beautiful island, and we actually wanted to settle there, but all things considered, it's just not for us.

Of course, we also had to explore the Troodos Mountains. We reached the highest point in Cyprus, but unfortunately, the view was obscured. It was very hazy.
We also went for a hike, as we were told the trail led to a waterfall, but sadly, we didn't see it. The trail itself was great, though.
During this hike, we also saw what is probably the smallest and most beautiful village in Cyprus (Omodos).
From there, we drove to Aphrodite's Rock.
Very beautiful, but really like a miniature Königswinter in Germany.
From there, we went to a fantastic beach restaurant, which we then frequented.
Everything was simply perfect.
We'll provide more information on a separate page, including tips for accommodation, food, and attractions that we found worthwhile.
The next day was the absolute highlight of this vacation.
We booked a buggy safari!!!

This ride was absolutely amazing. Check out the video! 🙃
I don't think we've ever been as dirty in our lives as we were that day.
Everyone who isn't afraid of getting dirty should really do this at least once.
The trip took over five hours, with swimming, eating, and lots of fun.
The next day we rented a small boat and went towards the Blue Lagoon to go snorkeling.

It was all very beautiful there, but somehow it wasn't quite right for us.
So we decided to spend the next few days at the other end of the island.
We left the apartment and drove from there to Cap Crecco.

A beautiful landscape awaits us, and unfortunately, so does pure tourism.

The beach was completely overcrowded, and the tavernas were all about speed and speed.
But we did find a really good pizzeria there. The food was excellent, and the staff were incredibly friendly.
That fish was amazing! 😊

We did eventually find a beautiful beach where we could snorkel and relax.
All in all, it was a wonderful vacation, but unfortunately, it's not something we'd do again.
But feel free to check out our other posts about Cyprus as well.
